Why are things running so slowly?
If you are using a relatively modern computer that is in good health things should run OK. If you are having problems try some of the following:
  • Loading a lot of layers will slow things down. Try unloading layers that you have finished with.
  • Polygon layers are big, especially Wards and Parishes - don't show more than you need to at any one time
  • Showing satellite and hybrid maps will slow things down.
How can I find out the name of something on the map
When a layer is selected, its contents are shown in a list underneath. Clicking on an item in the list will highlight it on the map.
You can click on a pushpin icon or shaded area on the map to find out more information (where available)

I can't see all the text in an information window on the map!
The information window is anchored to the map. Drag the map.
How accurate are the locations shown?
This varies according to what is being shown. Point data such as planning application locations is accurate but the borders of large polygons tend to be less so in order to make them show in a reasonably quick manner. Where appropriate we have given links to more accurate mapping.
